Obesity is the most common nutritional disorder affecting pets. Prevalence of overweight and obesity in dogs is subject to various risk factors such as breed, age, gender, neuter status, food type, and geographic region. Obesity can also be secondary to some endocrine disorders such as hypothyroidism, Cushing syndrome and diabetes, or to medication.
