La trasmissione di contenuti video nelle reti mobili sta diventando sempre più rilevante; è quindi necessario un suo sviluppo orientato all'ottimizzazione delle infrastrutture e dei protocolli esistenti. In tale ambito si inserisce il progetto europeo MEDIEVAL e il lavoro di questa tesi che consite nella modellizzazione di scenari ritenuti rilevanti e dello studio di simulazioni volte ad indagare i vantaggi dell'utilizzo di pacchetti video di dimensione aumentata. Questo perchè aumentando la dimensione del pacchetto si riduce la porzione di segnalazione in confronto al caso standard ed è quindi possibile far diminuire i tempi di latenza e buffering del video. Tuttavia un pacchetto siffatto è meno robusto e inoltre potrebbero sorgere problemi di congestione della rete. Si devono quindi indagare svantaggi e miglioramenti. //The transmission and streaming of video over the mobile internet networks is increasing its importance and so is the need of dedicated structures and protocols to satisfy customer's request. Because of this the MEDIEVAL team (European partnership of several universities and telecommunication companies) is focused on the development of LTE standards to provide a better user experience and a well-structured architecture for telecom companies. The work of this thesis is strictly linked to this project and consists on the study of simulations made with LENA (a ns-3-like simulator) to compare the gain of using IP packets of increased size. This because a bigger packet (jumbo frame) has got the same signaling number of bit than an usual one, but more information bit, so there's less latency. On the other hand the packet is less solid and congestion of the network is easier. This trade-off will be the focus of the thesis

Abstract
