Abstract: Dogon country, Mali, with its natural and cultural sanctuaries, has acquired an international reputation since its classification as world heritage by Unesco in 1988. Certain characteristic elements of this rich heritage, such a paleo-metallurgy, have been included, much later, in the cultural policies and scientific research frameworks. Moreover, this study, entitled conservation and valorization of paleo-metallurgy of Dogon, is based on a heritage perspective. Therefore, this work deals with developing the different approaches to explain threat factors, highlighting the values of these sites and adopting valorization strategies. In this manner, on the one hand, a relation between paleo-metallurgy heritage and local development will be established, and on the other hand, the Dogon people will claim the history as well as memory of their heritage. As a result, paleo-metallurgy heritage of Fiko will serve as a case study and an example of a valorization plan.
