On the empty free area south of the future railway Zagreb-Ĺ˝akalj of â€śHungarian royal railwayâ€ť, Vatroslav Egersdorfer in the name of â€śThe Society of Steam and Artificial Mill, Zagrebâ€ť got the construction permit to build a mill in 1862. There were two construction phases of Paromlin due to the fire that broke out in 1906 and totally ruined the company. The first construction phase was from the year 1862 till 1906, according to the plans of the architect Janko JambriĹˇak. The second phase of construction lasted from the year 1907 till 1925. The new complex of Paromlin was designed by the architectural office Hoenigsberg and Deutsch. In the year 1980 after closing down for business Paromlin, gets protected by the solution of the Regional institute for the protection of monuments in Zagreb, being the first protected industrial complex in Zagreb. Eight years later in 1988 the fire heavily damaged the complex. In 2005 the city of Zagreb decides to buy Paromlin from Klara d.o.o., but till today the city did not started any kind of refurbishment o space and because of that Paromlin is in great danger of collision and destruction.
