Hyperglicemia, high blood glucose, in diabetes mellitus promotes oxidative stress in cells, which is a deleterious process that can be an important mediator of damage to cells and contributes to development of disease states and aging. Nrf2 is a trascription factor that regulates the expression of numerous antioxidant defence enzymes (NQ01, GCLC, HMOX1) to attenuate cellular oxidative stress. Another pathway partecipate in the regulation of oxidative stress: PPARS. Thus, the present study ws designed to explore the potentiality of PPARB in the regulation of Nrf2 and its target gene against induced oxidative stress in high-glucose treated endothelial cells and diabetic rats.
