The aim of the thesis was to learn and to apply the basic methods of paleontological analysis. These methods consist of sampling, preparation and study of macrofossils and their stratigraphical distribution coming from Upper Sinemurian to Upper Domerian sediments of Corniola Formation, Umbria-Marche Apennine. These deposits rest on a Jurassic escarpment composed of Calcare Massiccio Formation. Four levels have been sampled. The collected fossils have been classified and those having stratigraphical meaning have been taken into particular consideration. The biostratigraphical analysis shows that three levels are in regular time sequence. The fourth level, which is the highest topographically, is older than the others. In fact, this level forms the infilling of a localized depression of the escarpment surface.
