The contact process is a stochastic model used to describe the spread of an infection in a population represented by a graph (vertices are individuals and edges describe the relations between them). The main goal of this dissertation is to study the behaviour of the extinction time, that is, the random amount of time until the infection disappears, on random regular graphs, starting from the full occupancy.
