The purpose of this thesis was to synthetize two amphiphilic block-copolymers: PEG44PPS20 and PEG44OES5. The nanomaterials obtained by the self-assembling procedure can form several types of nanostructures, including vesicles, micelles and nanofibers. In particular micelles and nanofibers can carry hydrophobic drugs in their hydrophobic core, while their hydrophilic shell stabilizes the system in the acqueous environment. The in vitro effect of the drugs released from nanomaterials was evaluated on different cell lines and the obtained results showed how versatile are these nanomaterials as drug carriers to be used for a variety of biomedical needs.
