This work deals with application of the new approach of geological sciences at the geological monitoring of gravitational phenomena, with particular interest for the verification of probabilistic models of risk prediction by rocky collapses against human works. The case study refers to a support of the cable car to Rifugio Tarlenta-ExMantova (support number 3), located in the town of Peio (TN) on the southern slope of the ridge of Taviela Crozzi at an altitude of about 2740 m slm. They were conducted geologic, geomorphological and geomechanical surveys near the ridge adjacent to the support, who were able to monitor the vulnerability of the support number 3. For a more detailed the analysis was performed with three-dimensional and two-dimensional simulations using respectively the RockyFor3D software and the RocFall software, which could describe the phenomenon from an energy and trajecotries point of view. Both models have confirmed the fear that some blocks will disturb the trellis, because the trajectories are concentrated on both sides of the ridge, along the extension of which was realized the cableway support. The choice fell on the design of metal gabions placed at the base and upstream of the trellis, with the purpose of diverting the blocks and not to stop them. To evaluate the effectiveness of the defense works were performed with twodimensional simulations (RocFall software) that could confirm the efficiency of the work: some blocks are able to pass the barrier located upstream of the trellis, but will then be blocked by the barrier placed to basis.
